Lawmakers form South Louisville opioid task force

Representatives McKenzie Cantrell and Joni Jenkins will work with community leaders to not only study the abuse but to make recommendations to fight the problem.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) — Two Kentucky state representatives have created a task force to study the opioid epidemic in South Louisville.

Representatives McKenzie Cantrell and Joni Jenkins will work with community leaders to not only study the abuse but to make recommendations to fight the problem.

Both of the lawmakers said their districts had the largest number of deadly overdoses in Metro Louisville and want to make a difference in the fight.

The task force’s first meeting will be held June 21 at 6:30 at Lynnhurst United Church of Christ on Taylor Boulevard. It’s open to the public and they encourage everyone to attend.
